Spotify, the world’s most widely used music and podcast streaming platform, is officially introducing a long-gestating feature that will allow listeners to publicly comment below podcasts.This new feature will allow listeners to leave comments on any supported episode page, allowing for community building.
Spotify brings comment feature to Podcast lovers
According to Spotify, creators will be able to like and reply to listener comments, as well as have control over which comments appear on their pages. In this way, they can turn off the comment feature completely if they wish, or make it available to certain users.
With the support of podcast comments, Spotify aims to offer content creators more opportunities to build communities. As a matter of fact, according to reports from Spotify, Premium members who use any of the engagement features on Spotify tend to become Premium subscribers again, even if their subscription ends. In this sense, the company plans to increase its interaction features in the new period.
Reviews will add a new type of interaction that these active listeners can interact with. The Spotify front, as a result of its surveys, more than 70 percent of Podcast listeners stated that new features should be added to communicate more with the community.
Maya Prohovnik, VP of Podcast Product at Spotify, said, “We are taking a very careful and cautious approach to this. I think there’s an important balance between creative expression and keeping people safe and enabling high-quality conversations to happen.
